The National Reserve of Tavolara
The National Reserve of Tavolara - Punta Coda Cavallo, founded one year later, is constituted by three islands: Tavolara, Molara and Molarotto , and from the sea area surrounding it, a paradise for the most exigent divers. The archipelago can be reached with private boat or with the tourist boat leaving from Porto San Paolo (every 30 minutes) to bathe near the beaches of Spalmatore, Cala Spagnola and Cala di Chiesa.
Every summer the island of Tavolara hosts a film festival called “Una notte in Italia” (www.cinematavolara.it), which made the island famous even outside the borders of Sardinia. Tickets for screenings can be purchased in Porto San Paolo, and a shuttle service connects the island with the dry land after each screening. This is surely an alternative way to enjoy a film festival, and a different way for visitors to enjoy the island.
