Golfo dell'Asinara

Stintino

The Gulf is set between the last edge of the Asinara island and the Paradise Coast. The biggest village is Porto Torres, connected with Genova, Marsiglia and Corsica by sea. From here it is also possible to reach Stintino and its beach, La Pelosa, certainly one of the most amazing beach of Sardinia. Or you can head East, passing by some sea resorts with bizarre and difficult names, like Eden Beach and Lu Bagno, until you get to Castelsardo.

Castelsardo

This is a beautiful village clinged on a promontory, with the fortress of Doria towering over it, which was once called the Genoese Castle, then turned into Aragonese Castle, and finally, in the 18th century, Castel Sardo. Although this is a well known summer destination for its beaches and the position close to many locations of the gulf, its charm makes it very attractive even in low season, and the numerous cultural events draw many visitors during the main religious feasts, Christmas and New Years’ Eve, but above all in Easter. Castelsardo in fact, hosts one of the most famous Sardinian’s traditions in connection with the Holy Week:  Lunissanti.
Another great attraction is represented by its cuisine, in particular the renowned lobster and the great variety of crustaceans and shellfish. You might not afford to eat lobsters all days, but there’s not better place to taste it at least once during your holiday.
Another excursion that we strongly recommend is on the Asinara Island, that can be reached from Porto Torres, and in summer also from Stintino , Castelsardo and Santa Teresa di Gallura.
