Climate in Sardinia is generally Mediterranean.
Summer temperatures on the coast can be high, but the sea-breeze tends to make them more tolerable. Winters are mild, with very few rains.
The inland is a bit different: summer temperatures are a little chillier especially on the mountain massifs, where climate in winter can get very rigid and it is not rare to have snow, to the extent that some localities of Mount Gennargentu have provided themselves with sky resorts. It is true that Sardinia remains a favorite summer spot, renowned for its sea rather than the winter sport attractions; however, the island is fully enjoyable in all seasons. Actually those who have the possibility to travel in spring or autumn should not miss this chance, since these are ideal periods to enjoy cities, nature and the landscapes, which are literally assaulted by mass tourism during the high season.
While for all of you tan-addicted and sunbathing lovers, the best period is certainly late spring and summer, but be prepared to find overcrowded beaches. Or you could choose the less famous spots. Sardinia is all beautiful in the end!
